Unni Mukundan’s Marco has become a major box-office hit, outpacing other films like Varun Dhawan’s Baby John. Released in the same week, Marco has set a new record as the highest-grossing Hindi-dubbed Malayalam film ever. While it sparked some competition with Baby John, Mukundan has remained focused on the success of his own project.

The actor refused to talk about the competition and said, “With Marco, you can see the difference in how it has created a new business model for the Malayalam industry, and I am glad that I have been able to create something like that.”
He seemed proud of how the film is helping Malayalam cinema grow, particularly given its impressive box-office performance.
Actor Claims His Film Doesn’t Glorify Violence
The film’s portrayal of hyperviolence has raised some questions with many discussing the intense scenes. Mukundan explained that the violence shown in the film was toned down.
“It’s just 30 percent of what we actually wanted to shoot. We have not tried to glorify it; we have shot it aesthetically and tried to present it in a way that the audience can understand,” he said.
Mukundan further justified the presence of violence in the film, stating, “Violence has always been a part of human evolution. World cinema also boasts action and violence. Additionally, the audiences have matured and come a long way.”
With his 2022 film Malikappuram winning a National Award for Best Child Artist, Mukundan believes that audiences are now more accepting of such content when done thoughtfully.
About Unni Mukundan Starrer Marco
Directed by Haneef Adeni, Marco features stylish action sequences and an electrifying background score. Though the film has been praised for its action scenes, viewers should be aware that it contains some intense sequences that may not be suitable for everyone.
Marco has also surpassed several high-profile Malayalam films at the box office. The film’s Rs 100 crore run has outpaced movies like Mammootty’s Bheeshmaparvam, Mohanlal’s Neru, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Guruvayoor Amabalanadayil, and Tovino Thomas’ Ajayante Randam Moshanam.
