‘Varun Action Ke Liye Bohot Soft Hai’: Baby John Gets THUMBS DOWN With ‘Poor Response’ In Public Review (Watch Video)

Baby John disappoints with poor box office numbers, weak performances, and negative reviews despite high expectations and a cameo by Salman Khan.

Varun Dhawan’s Christmas release Baby John has failed to impress both audiences and critics. Released on December 25, the action-drama was expected to be a festive blockbuster but fell short of expectations, delivering a disappointing performance at the box office.

Kalees directed the film, which also featured Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Jackie Shroff. Salman Khan made a cameo appearance (which initially excited fans) but even his presence couldn’t boost the film’s reception.

Mixed Reactions & Negative Reviews From Audiences

Critics and viewers have criticised it for its weak storyline and lacklustre execution. A public review video shared by Punjabi Thikana on Instagram highlighted audience disappointment.

One viewer described the narrative as chaotic, with scenes feeling randomly stitched together. Even Salman Khan’s cameo failed to leave a lasting impression. Commenting on Varun Dhawan’s action sequences, she said, “Varun action ke liye bohot soft hai.”

Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi also received criticism for their performances. According to the viewer, they did not make an impact, and the film earned a low rating of 2 out of 5. She suggested that Salman Khan in the lead role might have brought the spark the film lacked.

One aspect that gained some praise was the music by S Thaman. The energetic tracks were appreciated, although they couldn’t make up for the film’s other shortcomings.

Disappointing Box Office Numbers Of Baby John

Despite being a solo release on Christmas, Baby John earned just Rs 11.25 crore nett on its opening day. This figure was surprisingly low, especially since the film faced little competition. Older releases like Pushpa 2 and Mufasa performed better, adding to the embarrassment.

Day two saw the film’s earnings drop by 60%, bringing in only Rs 5.13 crore. With a two-day total of Rs 16.38 crore nett, the film’s future looks bleak. Unless the New Year holidays bring a sudden surge, Baby John risks becoming one of Varun Dhawan’s major setbacks.

Produced by Jio Studios, Cine1 Studios, Vipin Agnihotri Films, and A for Apple Studios, the film was expected to be a big success. However, with its disappointing performance, all eyes are on the team, including filmmaker Atlee, to see how they address the film’s failure.

The question now is whether Baby John can recover or if it will remain a misstep in Varun Dhawan’s career.
