Marvel turned New York Comic Con into a full-blown Disney+ showcase by giving fans something they did not see coming: an early screening of VisionQuest Episode 1, just days before the series begins streaming on October 14, 2026. The event also doubled as a major roadmap reveal for Marvel Television and Marvel Animation, with fresh updates on Zodiac, Marvel Zombies, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and Daredevil: Born Again.
Visionquest Gets A Nycc Premiere Boost
At the Empire Stage panel, Marvel’s TV, animation and comics chief Brad Winderbaum led the studio’s presentation before the spotlight shifted to VisionQuest. Paul Bettany, James Spader, showrunner Terry Matalas, Ruaridh Mollica and Emily Hampshire joined the panel, and the session ended with a surprise screening of the first episode for the crowd in attendance.
Marvel had already confirmed earlier this year that VisionQuest would premiere on Disney+ on October 14, 2026, with Bettany returning as Vision and Spader reprising Ultron. The series is positioned as the third chapter in the story line that began with WandaVision and continued with Agatha All Along. In India, the show is set to stream on JioHotstar on the same date in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
The new series follows Vision after his escape from those trying to weaponize him, as he searches for purpose while confronting embedded AI personas including J.A.R.V.I.S., F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H. and Ultron. Terry Matalas serves as showrunner, with Marvel listing a broader cast that includes Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, James D’Arcy, Orla Brady, Emily Hampshire and Ruaridh Mollica.
Marvel Expands Its Disney+ Slate
The panel also brought two notable franchise updates. Marvel announced that Zodiac, a new live-action series, is currently casting, will begin production in 2027, and is targeting a 2028 Disney+ release. On the animation front, Marvel Zombies is not stopping with a single run, with three additional two-part specials announced for Halloween 2027, Halloween 2028 and Halloween 2029.
There was more for longtime Marvel TV fans. Jeff Trammell confirmed that Season 2 of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will debut on Disney+ on January 13, 2027. The panel also featured Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter and Finn Jones, who reunited on stage to preview the third and final season of Daredevil: Born Again, which is due in 2027.
Paul Bettany’s Recent And Upcoming Work
For Bettany, VisionQuest marks his biggest Marvel return since WandaVision redefined his character’s place in the MCU. Outside Marvel, his most recent screen release was Robert Zemeckis’ Here in 2024, followed by the 2025 TV mini-series Amadeus. IMDb also lists The Collaboration in post-production and Harvest Moon as completed, making them his next confirmed non-Marvel projects in the pipeline.
That gives Bettany a particularly interesting 2026 slate: one foot back in blockbuster franchise storytelling, and another in prestige drama. With Marvel now putting VisionQuest directly in front of convention audiences before launch, the studio has made it clear this is one of its key streaming plays for the season.
