Vivek Agnihotri praised Yami Gautam for speaking up against the “vicious mafia”

The review by Film Companion adds that she is "no longer the dead girlfriend" and that her "combative smile" is becoming monotonous.

Dasvi, directed by Tushar Jalota and starring Abhishek Bachchan, Yami Gautam, and Nimrat Kaur, finally launched on Netflix and JioCinema yesterday (April 7). The film has received mixed reviews from critics, but it has received a positive response from fans.

While celebrities normally take constructive criticism in stride, reviewers have a habit of hitting below the belt for no apparent reason. Yami Gautam, who attacked a portal for making jabs at her in their Dasvi review, had a similar experience. While her performance goes unmentioned, the review adds that she is “no longer the dead girlfriend” and that her “combative smile” is becoming monotonous.

Covering a range of topics while explaining why the review was unacceptable, Yami wrote, “Before I say anything else, I’d like to say that I usually take constructive criticism in my stride. But when a certain platform keeps trying to pull you down consistently, I felt it necessary to speak up about it.”

“My recent films & performances include ‘A Thursday’, ‘Bala’, ‘Uri’ etc & yet this is qualified as a ‘review’ of my work! It’s extremely disrespectful!”, Yami Gautam added.

Yami Gautam also wrote, “It takes years of hard work for anyone & especially a self-made actor like me to keep proving our mettle again & again with every opportunity. This is what it comes down to from certain reputed portals!”

In the latest turn of events, The Kashmir Files director Vivek Agnihotri has praised Yami for speaking up against the “vicious mafia”. In a tweet, he appreciated the actress and stated that her talent needs “no certificates”.

He tweeted, “Bravo, @yamigautam for speaking up. You need no certificates for your talent from this vicious mafia led by @anupamachopra”.

Penned by Ritesh Shah, the social comedy Dasvi is bankrolled by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films in collaboration with Jio Studios.
