The buzz around Yash Raj Films‘ upcoming film War 2 is palpable. This espionage thriller, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, has fans eagerly waiting for its release next year.
Recently, there were reports suggesting that Shah Rukh Khan would make a cameo appearance in the film. This news sent fans into a frenzy, but it looks like that excitement might be short-lived.
Shah Rukh Khan’s Cameo Not Happening In War 2
According to fresh reports from Peeping Moon, Shah Rukh Khan will not appear in War 2 as his iconic character, Pathaan.
Although the idea of SRK joining the sequel was tempting, it’s not part of the film’s plan. Aditya Chopra, the head of YRF, does have plans to unite Shah Rukh and Hrithik in the Spy Universe eventually, but that won’t happen in this film.
To give some context, Hrithik’s character Kabir had a cameo in the post-credit scene of Salman Khan’s Tiger 3. That scene effectively set the stage for War 2.
However, the upcoming Spy Universe film in the timeline is Alpha, featuring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari. SRK’s return as Pathaan will be planned after that film, keeping fans on the edge of their seats for future developments.
War 2 is set to release on the Independence Day weekend in 2025. Currently, filming is underway in Mumbai, where Jr NTR is gearing up for an action-packed role as the film’s antagonist. Reports indicate that he is shooting a solo action sequence that showcases his character’s formidable strength.
Soon, Hrithik will join Jr NTR for a joint action sequence. The two stars are set to meet again in November for the film’s climax, which is scheduled over 20 days. This showdown promises to be a highlight of the film.
Grand Entry For Hrithik Roshan & Jr NTR Planned
Hrithik’s entry into War 2 is designed to be spectacular. He will reportedly engage in an intense sword fight with a villain in a Japanese monastery, which has fans buzzing with excitement.
Initially, there were speculations that this scene would take place in a Shaolin Temple, but it has since been confirmed. This grand entrance is meant to captivate audiences and set the tone for the film.
The scene was filmed back in March and conceptualised by Aditya Chopra and director Siddharth Anand. They realised that the Orient had yet to be explored in the franchise, leading to the creation of a sprawling set at YRF Studios in Andheri, Mumbai. This set will represent a 300-year-old heritage monastery, adding an air of grandeur and mystique to the film.
On the other hand, Jr NTR’s introduction scene will be equally thrilling. He will engage in a hand-to-hand combat sequence with pirates on a ship, promising a stylish and high-energy entrance.
The makers are investing a significant amount of money into NTR’s introduction, showcasing his character in a slick new avatar. The film is being made on a budget of Rs 300 crore, ensuring a lavish spectacle.
What’s More After War 2 For YRF?
Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt and Sharvari are busy filming Alpha in Kashmir, working on an intricate chase sequence. This film is slated for a Christmas 2025 release, just four months after War 2.
Following these two films, YRF plans to dive into Pathaan 2, although that project is still in the writing phase with no production timeline established yet.
