Akshay Kumar is taking Welcome To The Jungle into cricket’s biggest weekend spotlight. With the T20 Cricket Final scheduled for Sunday, May 31 at 6 PM on Star Sports and JioHotstar, the film’s new promotional push leans into a mass entertainment zone built for jungle themed comic chaos.

What Welcome To The Jungle Is Bringing
Welcome To The Jungle is directed by Ahmed Khan and marks the third film in the Welcome franchise. Backed by Firoz Nadiadwala, the comedy drama features Akshay Kumar alongside Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Arshad Warsi, Raveena Tandon, Jacqueline Fernandez, Disha Patani, Johnny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Lara Dutta and Jackie Shroff. The film is scheduled to arrive in theatres on June 26, 2026.
The premise follows police officers Jay Bakshi and Sandhya as they pursue notorious criminal Raj Solanki, before the chase takes a personal turn. That blend of crime, confusion and comedy keeps the film close to the franchise’s crowd pleasing DNA.
Ahmed Khan earlier described the film’s franchise shift in a recent interview, saying, “So the thought was very different. If you see Welcome, it is a film that is regularly made, and there is nothing like a similar cast. Akshay (Kumar) was in the first one, John (Abraham) was in the second one, and now again Akshay is in the third one. So it was a complete 360-degree turnaround from the Welcome series. So it’s okay, people keep coming and going.”
He also spoke about the challenge of mounting the ensemble, adding, “Very difficult, but it’s a filmmaker’s journey. There were so many hurdles, so many apprehensions, but a director has to go through hell to make a film. Welcome has been a tough journey for me because of the cast I have. To manage the actors’ dates, money, and requirements isn’t an easy journey”
