A big-ticket Bollywood comedy landing a censor certificate after 18 separate changes is not business as usual, and that is exactly the twist surrounding Welcome To The Jungle. The Akshay Kumar-led ensemble has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification with a U/A 16+ certificate, but only after an extensive round of dialogue changes, visual deletions, and song-sequence modifications involving Disha Patani and Jacqueline Fernandez.
That unusually long censor trail instantly makes the film’s certification story part of its headline appeal. Even after those revisions, Welcome To The Jungle has retained a substantial runtime of 164.50 minutes, which comes to 2 hours, 44 minutes and 50 seconds, signaling that its chaotic franchise scale remains firmly intact.
What The Cbfc Changed In Welcome To The Jungle
The board’s cuts cover politically sensitive references, military terminology, comic insults, and glam-shot visuals. According to the censor list, the line “Paani of Kashmir” was removed entirely, while the phrase “desh ki tatti” was also deleted. Military references were softened too, with “Gorkha Regiment” changed to “Tum army se ho?” and the designation “General” replaced throughout with “Officer” or “Sir”.
Several dialogue changes were more granular but still revealing. The CBFC order notes that “Kaala paida hua hai, koyla hai” was altered to “saadah paida hua hai, namoona hua hai”, while “Yaad karo kurbani, munh mein bhar lo paani” became “Jo shaheed hone ja raha tha, uske munh mein bhar lo paani”. The word “andha” was changed to “dheela”, “Izzat le lo” was modified to “Yeh aapke saath jaane ko…”, and “Azarudden” was switched to “Allaudin”. The word “screwed” was replaced in two places, and a 10-second scene featuring the phrase “na diya” was removed altogether.
The visual edits were just as specific. Sensual bikini visuals, close-up shots of women’s hips, and certain hip-movement choreography in songs were either deleted or replaced. The censor list specifically states that sensual frames featuring Disha Patani and Jacqueline Fernandez were removed from the final print. A vulgar hand gesture was also cut and masked with a close-up shot of Vindu Dara Singh.
Taken together, the scale of these edits gives the film an unusually eventful pre-release narrative, especially for a starry franchise comedy designed as a theatrical crowd-pleaser.
