John Abraham left a strong impression as Jim in Pathaan (2023). His role as the antagonist alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone was widely appreciated.
Now, the actor has teased a prequel that could explore Jim’s past, sparking excitement among fans.
John Abraham Speaks On Possibilities Of Pathaan Prequel Based On His Character
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, John shared that he is not interested in joining big franchises unless the project truly excites him.
When asked if he meant something like Jim in Pathaan, he described the character as “cool” and “special.”
He also spoke about his collaborations with producer Aditya Chopra, mentioning Dhoom, New York, Kabul Express, and Pathaan. He added, “I think he (Adi) gets me right, and hopefully we’ll be doing a prequel to Jim before he goes bitter. So that should be happening.”
Siddharth Anand Previously Said THIS On Jim’s Return
His statement has created a buzz, especially since Pathaan director Siddharth Anand had earlier hinted at Jim’s return. In a previous interview with Pinkvilla, Siddharth was asked if a film focusing on Jim’s past was in the works. He replied, “It should be, but it’s too early to talk about anything. I feel Jim’s character does warrant a prequel.”
He was also asked if Jim’s connection with Hrithik Roshan’s Kabir from War could be explored. Keeping the possibilities open,
Siddharth said, “Ya, why not? Anything can happen. It’s a universe, and you can do anything with the characters- it’s a playground. You can have a prequel to Jim… Oh wait, what if Jim is not dead? What if there’s a harness that pulls a parachute?”
Back in 2023, reports suggested that Yash Raj Films and John had already discussed the idea. A source told Pinkvilla, “Yash Raj Films and John have discussed the idea and believe the character Jim has enough potential to blow big.” Now that John has addressed it himself, it seems like the project could be moving forward.
Meanwhile, John is preparing for his next film, The Diplomat, which is inspired by a real-life Indian diplomat. The movie, directed by Shivam Nair, features Sadia Khateeb, Revathy, Kumud Mishra, and Sharib Hashmi. It is set to release on March 7.
