Directed by Rishab Shetty and produced by Vijay Kirgandur, Kantara (which refers to forest in Sanskrit) stars Sapthami Gowda, Kishore, Pramod Shetty, Prakash Thuminad and Achyuth Kumar in leading roles. It has been released into five languages, namely Kannada, Hindu, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam.
Audiences appreciated the film’s direction, screenplay, music and performances. It is a visual grandeur that energises the traditional culture of Kambla and Bhootha Kola. However, they seem to be upset with its OTT version. One of its key parts is the Varaha Roopam song in the climax. Many have expressed displeasure over it after its release on OTT.

Without original Viraha Roopam, #Kantara isn't the same. That song and music was soul of the movie.

Moreover, Thaikkudam Bridge, a prominent Kerala-based band, had accused the Kantara makers of plagiarism, over their song ‘Varaha Roopnam’ to their song called ‘Navarasam’, which was released five years ago.
