In FY2021-22, the company had a net profit of Rs 115 crore on operating income of Rs 614 crore, while it had a net profit of Rs 61 crore on revenues of Rs 614 crore in FY2019-20. Widhani also noted that FY22 was an exception, as much of the revenue accrued from catalog and licensing deals.
Widhani revealed that the company plans to increase the production of OTT content, which will become a significant revenue contributor. YRF currently has 80 films in its library and is working to expand its theatrical reach for its films. Pathaan was released in more than 100 countries and over 8,000 screens globally.
In 2023, YRF has two significant releases planned: a Vicky Kaushal starrer and Salman Khan starrer Tiger 3, set to release during Diwali. Widhani noted that YRF intends to retain intellectual property rights to its OTT shows, similar to their films. In addition, YRF will focus on its Spy Universe franchise, which includes successful films such as Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, and Pathaan.
The production house is currently finalizing its film slate for the next two years, with plans to expand its content offerings beyond just the number of films they produce. YRF is one of the most significant players in the Indian film industry, and their anticipated revenue growth in FY2022-23 is expected to further solidify their position.
