Yash Owns His Ravana Moment In Ramayana, Says ‘no One Can Portray Evil Better Than Me’

Yash is stepping into Ramayana with the kind of conviction that instantly changes the temperature around a film. As conversation swells around Nitesh Tiwari’s mythological epic, the actor has now revealed why he chose to play Ravana, and his answer is as bold as the role itself. For a star whose screen image has long thrived on authority and intensity, this is not just casting. It feels like a calculated reinvention.

Yash Explains His Ravana Choice

Speaking in an interview with India TV, Yash opened up about playing Ravana in Ramayana and made it clear that he sees the character as the force that must make Rama’s virtue shine brighter. He said, “If we want to show the goodness of Rama, Ravana must personify the evil. No one can portray evil better than I can.” He followed that with another striking line in Hindi about the kind of impact Ravana should create on screen. He also stressed that the film has come together because the team chose the story over individual star image. “We all have kept our egos aside. It’s not about my stardom or me as a star in Ramayana. The best people are working on this project.”

The KGF actor also opened up about rumours that Rs 4,000 crore is the budget only for Ramayana Part 1. He said, “That is a misconception, so let me clarify it to everyone. Rs 4,000 crore is the budget for the two-part film, including release and promotion. It is the same as Hollywood. Our partner (Namit) said this after including all that. Wahan ka maths waisa hi hota hai (The math there is like this). A budget equal to the film, or sometimes more, they spend on promotion because it is global. But the revenue is global too.”

That perspective lands neatly with the scale of the film itself. Ramayana is being directed by Nitesh Tiwari and fronted by Ranbir Kapoor as Rama and Sai Pallavi as Sita, with Yash taking on Ravana. The ensemble around them only adds to the event film aura, with Sunny Deol and Ravi Dubey among the names that have kept fan anticipation high.

A Dark Turn That Fits This Career Moment

What makes Yash’s latest statement especially interesting is how naturally it connects with the phase he is in as a star. Ravana is not being framed as a mere antagonist here. Yash is talking about the role as if it must dominate the emotional and visual landscape of the film. That instinct lines up with a performer who has spent the past few years becoming highly selective, choosing projects built on scale, control, and unmistakable screen presence.

Reinvention, Scale, And Yash’S Next Chapter

Yash’s last theatrical release was K.G.F: Chapter 2 in 2022, the blockbuster that cemented his pan India standing and left audiences waiting for what he would do next. His post K.G.F choices now suggest a deliberate pivot toward larger, mythic, and image shaping roles rather than quick follow ups.

His next confirmed theatrical release is Toxic, directed by Geetu Mohandas and starring Yash alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth. The film’s teaser announced a March 19, 2026 theatrical release. Ramayana is also lined up as a theatrical release in 2026, placing Yash at the center of two of the biggest big screen bets of this phase. In that context, his Ravana comments do more than explain a role. They underline where he wants his stardom to go next.
