YRF to NOT change the title Prithiviraj even after promising Karni Sena? The spokesperson of the latter says “It will not release in Rajasthan”

Prithviraj, directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, stars Akshay Kumar in the title role, with Manushi Chhillar making her Hindi cinema debut as Princess Sanyogita.

Prithviraj, starring Akshay Kumar, is due to release in theaters in about ten days, but it appears that it may face some competition shortly. As with any historical drama, religious and cultural groups frequently intervene to guarantee that the project remains loyal to its subject matter, and the Karni Sena has done the same for the YRF performance.

While it was previously reported that the group opposed the film’s title and demanded that it be changed to Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, there has been some fresh information. According to a recent source, the Rajasthan-based organization is adamant about the title change and also wants to see the film before it is released.

In a recent conversation with ETimes, Surjeet Singh Rathore from the Karni Sen spoke about YRF promising to change the title of the Akshay Kumar starrer to Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan. He said, “We have met Akshaye Widhani, the CEO of Yash Raj films and they have promised to make the change to the title. They have agreed to honour our demand.”

However, when the portal investigated the matter – and Yash Raj reps were unavailable for comment – an industry insider informed them that they are unaware of any fresh developments involving the film’s title change. Reacting to this, Rathore told the portal, “If they don’t make the change and don’t hold a screening of the film, Prithviraj will not release in Rajasthan.”

Continuing further, Surjeet Singh Rathore in a serious tone added, “We have already warned the exhibitors of Rajasthan about the same. If the title of the film does not change to Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, we will not allow them to show the film in Rajasthan.”
