Now, after years of speculation around whether a second part could ever match the charm of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, the project appears to be moving from nostalgia to actual development, with discussions reportedly underway with the original leading men.

According to the update, Zoya Akhtar has completed and finalised the first draft of the Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara sequel, and the new story is designed to revisit the three central characters years after the events of the first film. The narrative is said to explore evolving friendships, mid life choices and the kind of dreams that resurface when you are older and forced to look back at the life you have built.
An insider was quoted as saying, “Zoya has finally locked a draft she is happy with. She was always clear that a sequel to Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara would only happen if it had something new to say. It’s not a nostalgic rehash; the film acknowledges the time elapsed and the changes that have taken place in the three men’s lives.”
Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar And Abhay Deol Likely To Return
While no official announcement has been made by the makers yet, the same update states that Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol are in talks to reunite, with the intent reportedly being to bring back the original trio.
Another quote attributed to the insider adds, “The intent is to reunite the boys, but it all depends on alignment of dates.”
Given the scale and expectations attached to Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, it is clear the makers are aiming to get the casting right before moving to the next stage.
When Could The Sequel Go On Floors?
The timeline, as per the update, suggests the sequel would roll later this year, but only after Zoya Akhtar’s banner wraps the shoot of Dahaad 2. The development also comes at a time when Farhan Akhtar has Jee Le Zaraa in the pipeline, a road trip film that was announced in 2021 with Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt attached.
