Actress-turned-politician Jayasudha, who has done prolific work in the south industry, opened up on the lack of appreciation and recognition the south actors get from the Indian Government. She has worked predominantly, especially in the Telugu industry, and is known for her role in Amitabh Bachchan’s super hit film Sooryavansham.
Recently, the actress expressed her disappointment over the government who failed to acknowledge South actors by giving an example of National Award-winning actress Kangana Ranaut.
Amid the South vs Bollywood discussion in the entertainment industry, a section of people believe that the South film industry serves better content, a bunch of people also supported Bollywood.
Speaking of the same, Jayasudha appeared in the talk show ‘Unstoppable’ by the superstar Nanadakumari Balakrishna, which airs on Aha, with her contemporary Jaya Prada. By sharing her views, she said, “I’m okay with Kangana Ranaut getting Padma Shri. She is an amazing actress. Yet, she received that award within 10 films. Over here, we worked on many films yet not recognized by the Government.”
She further added, “Even Vijaya Nirmala, the woman director who is on the Guinness Records, hasn’t received such appreciation. Sometimes, I feel bad that the South is not being appreciated by the government.”
The veteran actress Jayaprada also mentioned, “We should get it respectably and not by asking for it.”
Jayaprada went on to reveal that during her tenure as an MP, she “requested the Bharat Ratna for NTR” and she is still trying to make it happen. Meanwhile, The host of the show also agreed with Jayasudha and Jayaprada points. However, Kangana Ranaut hasn’t responded to it yet.
