The wait for Allu Arjun‘s Pushpa 2: The Rule is over with less than 48 hours left until its release on December 5. Fans across the country are rushing to book tickets for the film, which was originally set to be available in 2D, IMAX 2D, and 3D formats.
However, a sudden change has surprised many – the 3D version of the film will not be available this week.
3D Version Of Pushpa 2 Delayed By A Week
A source close to the production confirmed this delay to Bollywood Hungama and said, “The 3D version is not yet ready. Hence, the makers of the film decided to forgo the release of the film in 3D this week.”
Despite this, the 2D version will still be released on schedule, both in India and internationally, across different languages. Those hoping to watch the film in 3D will now have to wait until December 13, when the 3D prints are expected to be ready.
A manager at a multiplex confirmed the news. He explained, “We were all set to play certain shows of Pushpa 2 – The Rule in 3D. But today we were told about the delayed 3D release. Now, we’ll play those shows in 2D.”
The manager also mentioned that 3D screenings usually cost more due to the price of 3D glasses. “We’ll now have to return this amount to the viewers. It has increased our workload, but we are still excited to play Pushpa 2 from December 5. The advance booking is phenomenal,” he added.
Despite the 3D delay, excitement for the film remains high. An industry insider commented, “It’s unfortunate, but these things happen. The producers raced against time to complete the film more than a week before its release and also completed the Censor process last Thursday. Let’s not forget, Pushpa 2 is being released in five languages. The makers should be applauded for getting the marketing right and building excitement despite these challenges.”
Controversy Surrounding Film’s 3D & IMAX Formats
There has been some controversy regarding the 3D and IMAX formats. Several theatre chains have raised concerns about the ethics of charging higher ticket prices for formats that may not offer a much better experience than 2D screenings.
One chain said, “We need to put a stop to this practice as we’re unfairly blamed for quality issues that originate from the film’s output itself. Pushpa 2 is not a CGI-heavy film, and it doesn’t have the utmost necessity to be experienced in 3D.”
No Early Release For Pushpa 2 Hindi Version On Dec 4
With Pushpa 2 set to release on December 5, starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, the film is expected to do very well. However, audiences will have to wait a bit longer for the 3D version, and some may be disappointed by the lack of early Hindi screenings. It could be due to the poor response to the film’s songs and slow advances.
Nevertheless, the film’s commercial appeal remains strong with early paid premieres scheduled for the night of December 4.
