Story:

Jhund is about Vijay Borade (Amitabh Bachchan), an almost-retired sports professor who is modelled on real-life sports professor Vijay Barse. He notices a few kids in a nearby slum and decides to train them and form a football club with them. Will society accept these slum youngsters doing something that only the wealthy are permitted to do in this country? Vijay will have to overcome numerous obstacles in order to form a football squad with this Jhund. Will he be successful in this endeavour?

Direction & Writing:

We’ve all seen movies where underdogs come out on top. But it’s two elements that make Jhund stand out: Manjule’s narration and Amitabh Bachchan’s acting. Manujle has created a film that depicts society’s reality, and he has done a fantastic job of integrating football into it. A football match in the first half will keep you on the edge of your seat and you an adrenaline rush. In addition, the film was beautifully shot in the wonderful lanes of Nagpur city. The camera work of Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti is fantastic.

Performances:

Jhund receives near-perfect scores in the areas of casting, acting, production design, and soundtrack. Amitabh Bachchan is the film’s pulsating heart, giving a fantastic performance while also allowing newcomers to shine. Several Sairat performers, including Akash Thosar, Rinku Rajguru, and others, appear in supporting parts throughout the film. Manjule himself portrays the local bigwig who contributes the most to Ambedkar Jayanti each year.

Music:

Ajay-songs Atul’s are ideally suited to the film’s theme. The title track is fantastic.

Verdict:

Jhund has the appropriate heart and is certainly one of the best films we’ve seen in recent years.
