Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya: Plot
The story revolves around Aryan Agnihotri (played by Shahid Kapoor), a robotics engineer who unwittingly becomes part of a project to test a human-like female robot. His aunt (played by Dimple Kapadia) made this female robot. Things take an unexpected turn when Aryan falls head over heels for the robot, named SIFRA (Super Intelligent Female Robot Automation), portrayed by Kriti Sanon. As their bond deepens, Aryan grapples with the realization that SIFRA is not just an ordinary woman but an advanced humanoid.
Can man and machine truly form a meaningful partnership, or is their love doomed?
Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya: Performances
Shahid Kapoor as cool Aryan is life of the film. He emotes, dances and carries the film on his shoulder. His climax scene with Dimple Kapadia is mind- blowing. Kriti Sanon as robot SIFRA is funny and does her job well with given character. Her best moment of the film is her ‘Dhak Dhak’ dance of Madhuri Dixit. A
shish Verma as Monty is funny and keeps the proceedings lively. Dharmendra is wasted in a minuscule role and Dimple Kapadia sleepwalks in unremarkable role of aunt. Rest all of the actors are passable. Janhvi Kapoor brings smile on the face with delightful cameo.
Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya: Analysis
What Works:
- Unique Concept: Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiyastands out with its fresh and quirky premise. The exploration of romance with a robot adds an intriguing layer to the story.
- Chemistry: Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon share superb chemistry, despite the unconventional pairing. Their interactions keep the audience engaged.
- Humor: The film delivers laughs through absurd situations faced by the human-robot couple. Aryan’s interactions with his goofy friend Monty (played by Ashish Verma) provide some delightful moments.
What Doesn’t Work:
- Pacing: While the concept is unique, the narrative takes a while to build up. Some scenes, especially those involving Aryan’s family warming up to SIFRA, feel overstretched.
- Circular Storytelling: The film occasionally finds itself going in circles while trying to build the story around the central theme.
- Man vs. Machine Debate: The exploration of AI and robots could have been more nuanced. This aspect feels rushed and wraps up too quickly.
Director Amit Joshi and Aradhana Shah have done decent job considering it’s their debut film. They have done better job as writers as concept is novel and treatment is funny. Music is backbone of the film and almost every song delivers for the film. Title song and Akhiyan Gulab are best of the lot.
Laxman Utekar has done exceptional job as cinematographer. Manish Pradhan’s editing leaves lot to be desired as film is very unevenly paced in first half.
Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya: Verdict
Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya offers a refreshing departure from typical Bollywood fare. It’s a breezy entertainer with moments of laughter, romance, and a dash of sci-fi. If you’re in the mood for something different, give this man-machine love story a watch.
