The Bhootnii Review: Sanjay Dutt, Mouni Roy, Palak Tiwari Starrer Is Worst Horror Comedy Ever, Poor Vfx And Pathetic Writing Make It Unwatchable

Maddock’s horror comedies are creating new records at box office and so it’s not surprising that other makers are trying to ride on the same wave. Latest horror comedy The Bhootnii released today all over. Film is led by Sanjay Dutt, Palak Tiwari, Mouni Roy and Sunny Singh. Film is produced by Sohum Rockstar and Sanjay Dutt. Zee Studio has presented and distributed the film.

The Bhootni: Plot

Shantanu (Sunny Singh) is a heartbroken college student who is desperately seeking “Sacchhi Mohabbat” in his life. On Valentine’s Day, when he cries and attempts su**ide in front of a “Virgin tree”, a magical tree that is believed to bless people with true love, his life takes an eerie turn.

Meanwhile, another college student of St. Vincent College, tries to k**l himself and it’s linked to a ghostly presence. The suspicion grows stronger because similar incidents have happened in the college in the past, too. This is when the college management seeks the help of a paranormal expert, Baba (Sanjay Dutt), who turns out to be one of the ex-students of the college.

What begins as mild inconvenience turns into full-blown chaos as she begins interfering in his love life, friendship. However, any potential in this quirky setup is squandered by an incoherent screenplay and a laughably predictable climax.

The Bhootni: Performances

Sanjay Dutt’s portrayal of Baba brings a certain charisma, but his character lacks depth and purpose. Mouni Roy attempts to infuse emotion into Mohabbat but is hindered by a poorly written role. Sunny Singh and Palak Tiwari’s performances are unremarkable, failing to leave a lasting impression.

The Bhootni: Analysis

The film suffers from a disjointed script and inconsistent tone. Attempts at humor fall flat, and the horror elements lack the necessary tension and suspense. The narrative meanders, leaving audiences confused and disengaged. Directed by Sidhaant Sachdev, this is a complete mess.

The film tries hard to entertain the audience, but on the contrary, it just keeps on making them feel more disinterested with every passing scene. If the story isn’t bad enough, the screenplay is all over the place. It seems the writers, Sidhaant Sachdev and Vankush Arora, wanted to focus on only meta references, so they rushed on to finish the screenplay writing process, and the result was nothing but a mesh of loosely connected half-baked scenes.

The Bhootni: Verdict

The Bhootnii is a lackluster addition to the horror-comedy genre. With a weak script, underwhelming performances, and uninspired direction, the film fails to entertain or engage. Audiences seeking a thrilling or humorous cinematic experience would be better served elsewhere.

The Bhootnii: Rating

Critics Rating: 0.5/5
