The highly anticipated Eid releases, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan, disappointed at the box office, with a combined collection of only Rs 20.50 crore. Despite high hopes, both films failed to match the success of past Eid blockbusters like Chennai Express and Sultan.

The highly anticipated Eid releases, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan have fallen short of expectations at the box office, marking a disappointing start for both films. Despite the buzz surrounding their release, the combined collection for these Eid releases amounts to a mere 20.50 crore nett. In comparison, the 11-year-old Chennai Express and Sultan performed far better than these two at the box office.

The dismal performance of both films on their opening day has left industry insiders and movie buffs alike astonished. Despite being touted as potential blockbusters, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan failed to make a significant impact, both critically and commercially.

Comparative Box Office Figures

  • Chennai Express: Rs 33.12 crore (2013)
  • Sultan: Rs 36.54 crore (2016)
  • Bade Miyan Chote Miyan: Rs 15.50 crore (2024)
  • Maidaan: Rs 5 crore (2024)

When compared to the opening day collections of past Eid releases such as Chennai Express and Sultan, the underwhelming performance of the recent releases becomes even more apparent. Chennai Express raked in an impressive Rs 33.12 crore nett in 2013, while Sultan followed suit with Rs 36.54 crore in 2016, dwarfing the lackluster numbers of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan.

BMCM’s Disastrous Box Office Collection On Day 1

Despite the auspicious occasion of Eid, the film failed to capitalise on the holiday fervor, managing to gross a total of Rs 8.15 crore in national chains by 8 pm.

Maidaan’s Low Box Office Opening

Similarly, Maidaan, starring Ajay Devgn, experienced a lackluster debut, despite positive reviews and paid previews generating some initial excitement. The film’s day one earnings amounted to a meager Rs 4 crore nett, marking one of Ajay Devgn’s poorest performances at the box office in recent times.
