Bad Newz, directed by Anand Tiwari, had a strong start in theatres across India, earning nearly Rs 9 crore on its opening day. It has been co-produced by Anand Tiwari, Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Amritpal Singh Bindra. The film’s launch was eagerly awaited by distributors and exhibitors due to its impressive promotional campaign and promising premise.
Bad Newz Makes DECENT Debut At The Box Office
The film’s opening day earnings are Rs 8.62 crore nett. It also marks the highest first-day collection of Vicky Kaushal’s career. This record was previously held by the 2019 film Uri, which made Rs 8.2 crore on its opening day and went on to gross over Rs 245 crore in India.
Bad Newz also outperformed the 2024 rom-com hit Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, which opened with around Rs 6.2 crore. The film’s unique storyline, which humorously explores the chaotic world of heteropaternal superfecundation, has captured the audience’s interest, leading to high occupancy in theatres on Friday.
Dharma Productions celebrated the film’s success on Instagram with a post saying, “Congra-kalesh-tions! 🥳 Pehele din pe hi #BadNewz ne sabka dil jeet liya!”
The makers are optimistic about the film’s performance over the weekend. It is expected to earn somewhere around Rs 30 crore by the 1st weekend.
