Bobby Deol’s latest big screen outing has found praise in select corners, but the box office story is still waiting for a stronger turn. Anurag Kashyap’s Bandar, which released in India on June 5, 2026, has stayed muted through its first two days, with its Saturday growth not enough to push the film near a breakout weekend.
The film opened to Rs 50 lakh on Friday and improved on day two, but the jump remained limited. For a crime thriller headlined by Bobby at a time when his second innings has been watched closely across Hindi and South cinema, the early trend points to a modest theatrical start.
Bandar Sees Limited Growth On Saturday
Bandar collected Rs 95 lakh on its second day, taking its two day India net total to Rs 1.45 crore. The film recorded an overall Saturday occupancy of 22.06 percent across 1257 shows, with night shows performing better than the morning and afternoon slots.
Film has two day total of 1.45 crore nett and it will fail to cross even 2.75 crore nett over weekend and almost certain to finish with single digit lifetime number.
The film is also competing with Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai and Peddi, both of which have drawn wider theatrical traction.

Zee Studios On Bandar Release Strategy
Addressing the release plan, Girish Johar of Zee Studios said in a trade interview, “Our ask is very fair. The producers and we have devised a particular release strategy catering to the core target audience. Accordingly, we had requested cinemas across the country to give us certain allotted shows of the film, that is, 3-4 shows in 5 screens post 1 pm. The duration of the film is also not very long (130 minutes). We are also aware that there is a heavy rush of releases this week. That is why we didn’t go for a wide release. The plexes are still working on it, and the back-and-forth is still going on.”
He added, “We plan to release in 500-600 screens. It’s a smart release strategy. We want to build upon the word of mouth and then increase showcasing, as we believe the film will have long legs at the box office.”

Bandar is directed by Anurag Kashyap and stars Bobby Deol, Sanya Malhotra, Saba Azad, Raj B Shetty, Jitendra Joshi, Riddhi Sen, Indrajith Sukumaran and Nagesh Bhonsle. Written by Sudip Sharma and Abhishek Banerjee, the crime thriller has been produced by Nikhil Dwivedi’s Saffron Magicworks and backed by Zee Studios. The film revolves around an ageing television star who is accused of rape by his former girlfriend.
