The wait around Awarapan 2 has finally got its first big reveal date. Nearly two decades after Emraan Hashmi’s Shivam became one of Hindi cinema’s most emotionally charged antiheroes, the sequel is preparing to unveil its first look with a musical callback built for instant nostalgia.
Box Office Worldwide has exclusively learned that the first look teaser of Awarapan 2, starring Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani, will release on July 1, 2026. The promo will open with the much loved track “Toh Phir Aao”, reconnecting the sequel to the haunting mood and musical legacy of the 2007 original.
Awarapan 2 Brings Shivam Back With A Nostalgic First Look
The teaser arrives at a high buzz moment for the film, whose shoot has already been completed. In an official social media update announcing the wrap, Vishesh Films wrote, “OGs know this isn’t just a wrap. He came back for you. In cinemas August 14.”
That one line has already stirred fan memory, especially because Awarapan continues to hold a special place in Emraan Hashmi’s filmography. The opening musical choice makes the sequel feel like an emotional continuation rather than just a franchise revival.
Inside The Scale, Cast And Big Screen Vision Of Awarapan 2
Awarapan 2 is directed by Nitin Kakkar and written by Bilal Siddiqui. Produced by Vishesh Films, the film stars Emraan Hashmi, Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi, with Emraan returning as Shivam. The film is scheduled to release in cinemas on August 14, 2026. Film will be clashing with another hyped film Batwara (earlier titled Lahore 1947) starring Sunny Deol, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan.
The sequel has been shot across Rajasthan and multiple locations in Southeast Asia, with the makers aiming for a larger canvas while retaining the aching emotional core of the original. Producer Vishesh Bhatt described the vision behind the film by saying, “Awarapan 2 is an emotion so large that it’s meant for the big screen. It also presents exotic settings and large-scale sequences, but fundamentally it’s built on our core principles of layered storytelling with powerful characters and rich music.”
Speaking about the casting, Bhatt added, “Emraan felt the angst of Shivam so deeply that he stepped into character in a heartbeat. And with Disha Patani joining us, the world of the film opened up to new possibilities.”
