For a film sold as a broad Hindi family entertainer with familiar faces, the collapse has been swift and unmistakable.
The daily trend makes the slide even clearer. The film opened to Rs 0.50 crore on day one, climbed to Rs 1 crore on day two and Rs 1.25 crore on day three, then lost steam through the weekdays with Rs 0.40 crore, Rs 0.60 crore, Rs 0.30 crore, and Rs 0.25 crore respectively. That leaves the first week total at Rs 4.30 crore nett, while the entire lifetime collection will remain below Rs 6 crore nett.

That poor run becomes even more striking when placed against the film’s packaging. Released on May 8, 2026, Daadi Ki Shaadi is a Hindi comedy-drama directed by Ashish R. Mohan and backed by BeingU Studios, RTake Studios, and Shimla Talkies. The cast includes Neetu Kapoor, Kapil Sharma, R. Sarathkumar, Sadia Khateeb, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, and Yograj Singh, giving the film a line-up that carried instant recall value on paper.
The story revolves around a grandmother’s decision to remarry, setting off emotional conflict and comic unrest within her family. It is a distinctly family-oriented premise, but the concept and cast combination did not translate into footfalls, leaving the film far below expectations in theatres.
Kapil Sharma’s Big Screen Struggles Deepen
Kapil Sharma’s recent acting run on the big screen has stayed uneven. He was seen in Crew in 2024 in a special appearance, followed by Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 in 2025, another theatrical outing that did not deliver a strong box office result. Daadi Ki Shaadi is now his latest release in 2026, and it has added another disappointing chapter to his theatrical track record.
The contrast with his comedy brand remains sharp. Sharma continues to enjoy far stronger visibility and audience affection through The Great Indian Kapil Show, which remains his most dependable mainstream platform. His recent acting credits have also included Hum Tum Maktoob, but Daadi Ki Shaadi has once again shown that his strongest connect still lies outside theatrical features, even when the film arrives with a familiar commercial set-up.
