A significant chunk of this traction is coming from the national chains. PVRINOX and Cinepolis together have contributed roughly Rs. 10.50 crore nett so far, with about 2,25,000 tickets sold, placing the film firmly in “event release” territory even before full-fledged weekend bookings open.
The wider weekend advance booking was expected to open earlier, but has been delayed due to discussions between the distributor and exhibitors. The key issues on the table involve revenue sharing terms linked to the first Dhurandhar and the subject of showcasing exclusivity for the sequel. The exclusivity ask, as per the update, is for four weeks, with the fourth week being the main point of negotiation due to the arrival of Bhoot Bangla in that period.
For now, previews continue to remain the only shows open for advance booking in India. The film’s advance trajectory is being closely tracked because once regular opening-day and weekend shows open at more standard pricing and with more showtimes across centres, the booking pace is expected to expand beyond metros and top “A” markets.
