Aamir Khan Calls Junaid Khan ‘strong-willed’ With A Sharp Sense Of Cinema, Confirms He Has Signed Two New Films

In Bollywood, star kids often inherit the spotlight, but rarely do they get to inherit a full vote of confidence from an A lister parent in such clear terms. Aamir Khan has now spoken candidly about son Junaid Khan’s temperament as an actor, his instincts with scripts, and how the young lead is choosing to navigate the industry without leaning on his father as a crutch.

The conversation also comes at an interesting moment for Junaid, who has already seen both the rush of a debut and the reality check that follows when a theatrical release does not land the way it is expected to.

The Latest Update

In a recent interaction, Aamir praised Junaid’s creative judgement and independence, calling him “strong-willed” and adding, “He has a sharp sense of cinema, of script, of editing and he is quite strong-willed.” Aamir also revealed that Junaid does not run his decisions by him, saying, “Junaid does not consult me about anything he takes on,” before confirming that his son has already signed two more films.

One of those projects is now actively on the radar. Junaid is set to headline Ragini 3, produced by Ektaa R Kapoor, with Tamannaah Bhatia as his co-star. The film is being mounted under the Balaji Motion Pictures banner, and director Shashanka Ghosh is attached to helm it.

Aamir, meanwhile, shared a telling personal anecdote that he believes mirrors Junaid’s methodical streak. Recalling teaching his son chess at the age of four, he said, “He first beat me when he was 18, Now, however hard I try, I can never beat him,” underlining the patience and grit he sees in Junaid.

Junaid Khan’s Recent And Upcoming Work

Junaid made his screen debut with Netflix’s Maharaj (2024), a period drama directed by Siddharth P. Malhotra and produced by YRF Entertainment, co-starring Jaideep Ahlawat, Shalini Pandey, and Sharvari. The film, based on the Maharaj Libel Case of 1862, put the spotlight on Junaid’s grounded approach as a leading man right out of the gate.

He followed it up with the theatrical romantic drama Loveyapa (2025), directed by Advait Chandan and co-starring Khushi Kapoor. The film opened to mixed reception and underperformed at the box office, with its India total cited at Rs 6.85 crore.

Looking ahead, Junaid’s next confirmed releases include Ragini 3 with Tamannaah Bhatia, and Ek Din, a romantic drama backed by Aamir Khan’s production banner and co-starring Sai Pallavi, marking her Hindi film debut.
