Diwali has been a major festival for Bollywood box office but gradually it’s Christmas that is overtaking to be the best festival. The main reason for this could also be because less number of people are allowed to take any leaves on Diwali due to the working season. This Diwali will see the release of Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh led Housefull 4, Bhumi Pednekar-Taapsee Pannu’s Saand Ki Aankh, Rajkummar Rao-Boman Irani’s Made In China.

First, let’s take a look at the top 5 movies that have been blockbuster on Diwali after their adjusted inflation. Topping the list is Amitabh Bachchan & Vinod Khanna’s Muqaddar Ka Sikandar. The movie’s inflated collection is 550 crores and the footfalls being reported are more than 5.50 crores. Next on the list is Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaayenge which stands at 461 crores with 4.79 crores of footfalls. Amitabh Bachchan’s Mard ranks 3rd with 425 crores and 4.30 crores footfalls. Aamir Khan is on the 4th position in the list with Raja Hindustani as it stands at 391 crores and 4.09 crores footfalls. Shah Rukh Khan along with Amitabh Bachchan becomes the 2nd actor to have 2 movies in the list as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai completes the list at 5th position with 343 crores and 3.56 crores of footfalls.

Regarding this year’s Housefull 4, the movie has been doing not as expected as far as the advance box office is concerned. It has failed to beat Akshay Kumar’s highest advance booking record of 12 crores. As of now, the movie stands in the range of 6-7 crores. This also is because it’s releasing in the pre-Diwali period and Monday, Tuesday will be huge because of the holidays.
