Evil Dead Burn Opens At Rs 3.15 Crore In India, Horror Franchise Returns With A Solid Start

A legacy horror brand rarely gets a free pass at the box office, which is what makes Evil Dead Burn’s India opening worth noting. The latest chapter in the blood-soaked franchise arrived with years of fan loyalty behind it, but it still had to prove that the Evil Dead name could draw a theatrical crowd in 2026. On day one, it did exactly that, posting a solid Rs 3.15 crore nett start in India.

That opening was backed by scale as much as by recall. With 3,573 shows across India, Evil Dead Burn translated franchise familiarity into measurable first-day business, giving the film a firm launch in the market. For a Hollywood horror release, that kind of start underlines the continued pull of a known genre property when audiences are offered a recognisable big-screen experience.

Evil Dead Burn Starts Strong At The India Box Office

Evil Dead Burn earned Rs 3.15 crore nett in India on its opening day. Its India gross stood at Rs 3.74 crore after day one.

Those numbers place the film on steady theatrical footing right out of the gate. More importantly, they reaffirm the commercial strength of horror when it arrives with an established identity. Evil Dead has never depended on conventional star power. Its appeal lies in atmosphere, shock value and a fiercely loyal fan base that knows exactly what this franchise promises.

Why The Evil Dead Brand Still Pulls Audiences In

That day-one response is inseparable from the brand’s long-built identity. For decades, Evil Dead has occupied its own lane in horror, mixing supernatural terror with graphic mayhem and a relentless survival streak that audiences instantly associate with the franchise. Evil Dead Burn benefits from that history, but it also carries the responsibility of extending it for a new theatrical cycle.

The film is the sixth installment in the Evil Dead series and follows the standalone path seen in Evil Dead in 2013 and Evil Dead Rise in 2023. It was directed by Sébastien Vaniček, who also co-wrote it with Florent Bernard. Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert served as producers, with New Line Cinema, Screen Gems and Ghost House Pictures backing the project.

The cast includes Souheila Yacoub, Hunter Doohan, Luciane Buchanan, Tandi Wright, Erroll Shand and Maude Davey. Released in 2026, the film once again revolves around the cursed Necronomicon, or Book of the Dead, which unleashes demonic violence on an unsuspecting group. The setup stays faithful to the series’ core formula, keeping supernatural dread and visceral horror front and centre, which is exactly what has kept Evil Dead theatrically relevant for more than four decades.
