EXCLUSIVE: Ajay Devgn Starrer Maidaan Approaches Poor 7.25 Crore Nett Including Paid Previews On Day One, Needs Big Jump Over Weekend To Stay Afloat

Ajay Devgn starrer Maidaan is a content film which is high on emotions with patriotic fervour. None of the song from the film became chartbuster but good reviews can give film legs for long run.

Maidaan Collects Low Numbers On Day One Including Paid Previews Yesterday

Ajay Devgn starrer Maidaan released in paid previews yesterday from 6 pm all over. Film was riding on good reviews so expected to score better but poor advance bookings affected. 

Film crossed 2.60 crore nett in paid previews and it needed massive jump over weekend with great reviews and exceptional word of mouth. But even on Eid festival, film managed poor 4.65 crore nett on day one. It’s poorest day one of Ajay Devgn after Runway 34 in recent times.

It has total of 7.25 crore nett and now it needs solid trending over weekend for some sort of total. As of now, things look bleak and even respectable total looks tough.

Cinepolis: 0.48 cr

Total: 2.05 crore gross

Ajay would be essaying the role of Syed Abdul Rahim to tell the story of this unsung hero who was responsible for taking Indian football to new heights and winning accolades for the country. The team at that time comprised of illustrious players like Chunni Goswami, PK Banerjee, Balaram, Franco, and Arun Ghosh.

Maidaan is directed by Amit Sharma and backed by Boney Kapoor, Akash Chawla, Arunava Joy Sengupta, and Zee Studios. The film stars Ajay Devgn as football coach Syed Abdul Rahim and will focus on India’s golden football period between 1952–1962. Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, and Rudranil Ghosh also appear in supporting roles. The film was initially slated to release on 23 June this year but was again postponed. However, now people are hopeful that it will finally see the light of day after multiple delays.
