Ajay Devgn's sports drama Maidaan faced legal trouble over plagiarism claims but got the green light from the Karnataka High Court.

The long-awaited release of Ajay Devgn‘s sports drama Maidaan faced a major obstacle, resulting in legal trouble over plagiarism allegations. However, a recent development has brought relief to the film’s producers.

Fresh reports state that the Karnataka High Court has lifted the stay on the release of Maidaan, allowing the much-anticipated movie to hit theatres after several delays finally.

The legal battle ensued when a Karnataka-based writer claimed that the film’s storyline, based on the life of former Indian football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, was plagiarised from his script.

Boney Kapoor And Zee Studios’ Official Statement

It all began when reports surfaced of the Mysuru court staying the film’s release following allegations of plagiarism by Kannada scriptwriter Anil Kumar. Kumar asserted that he had penned the script for the biographical sports drama but was not credited for his work.

Reacting to the court’s decision, the producers of Maidaan, Zee Studios, and Boney Kapoor’s Bayview Projects LLP, expressed their dismay over the ex-parte order, emphasising that they were not given a fair opportunity to present their side of the story.

They announced plans to appeal the decision before the High Court of Karnataka, ensuring that the film’s release would proceed as planned.
