Maidaan: Did Mysore Court Order Stay On Ajay Devgn-Priyamani’s Film Amid Accusations Of Plagiarism?

The highly anticipated release of Maidaan, Ajay Devgn‘s latest film has reportedly been put on hold. Just on the point of its scheduled premiere on April 11, the film finds itself entangled in legal woes following accusations of plagiarism. However, no official update has arrived from the makers and a confirmation is still awaited.

Maidaan Plagiarism Controversy

The controversy erupted when Anil Kumar, the story writer, raised claims of intellectual property theft against the producers of Maidaan. Kumar alleges that the script, which revolves around the life of Indian football stalwart Syed Abdul Rahim, was pilfered from his creative works.

Having meticulously crafted the storyline since 2010 and finalising it in 2018, Kumar asserts that elements of his narrative eerily mirror those showcased in the film’s promotional material.

Responding to Kumar’s grievance, the Mysore Court swiftly intervened, ordering an injunction on the film’s release. Zee Studios, the production banner behind Maidaan, now finds itself at the center of a legal storm, grappling with allegations of intellectual property infringement.

Maidaan Producers Accused By Vendors Of Not Paying Their Dues

This setback is not the sole challenge Maidaan has faced in its journey to the big screen. Recently, a vendor lodged a lawsuit against the film’s producers, Byaview Projects LLP and Boney Kapoor, citing unresolved financial dues. Despite efforts to halt the movie’s release, the Mumbai court rebuffed the vendor’s plea, allowing the makers to proceed. with the release.

In Maidaan, helmed by director Amit Sharma, Ajay Devgn will portray an Indian football coach Syed Abdul Rahim. The special previews of the film were expected to commence today, April 10, from 6 pm.
