Taapsee Pannu starrer Dobaara is the remake of a European thriller Mirage and directed by Anurag Kashyap. The film never looked to open with that niche promo and had no buzz prior to release despite the actress and director trying every trick from paparazzi controversy to unnecessary tongue-in-cheek interviews.
Dobaaraa opened in limited screens in around 370 cinemas and still managed only less than 10% opening.
This Taapsee starrer will struggle throughout the day as reviews can’t save this film overnight unless evening shows jump big time which hadn’t happened in post-pandemic times. The film collected a poor 72 lacs nett on day one. It was better than Taapsee’s last release Shabash Mithu which opened to 40 lacs nett.
On Saturday, film grew marginally due to some good word of mouth in premium urban multiplex audience. Doobara crossed 1.02 cr nett on day two which was still poor number.
On Sunday again film was flat and collected 1.10 cr nett which is a poor trend. Film has collected 2.84 cr nett over weekend which is not that bad number which felt on day one morning.
But still overall number was poor and film needed super solid Monday, close to Saturday number for some sort of chance for decent lifetime run close to 10 cr nett. But film dropped big on Monday by more than 65% from Friday number.
Film collected poor 23-24 lacs nett and its curtain for the film as it will not add more than 60-70 lacs from here.
