Diwali releases were set to lock horns at box office as Akshay Kumar starrer Ram Setu and Ajay Devgn – Sidharth Malhotra starrer Thank God released with below par responses in advance bookings. But as expected films jumped in spot bookings and managed very good day one.
Akshay Kumar starrer Ram Setu released in 3100 screens all over India and marketing was low with low pre release buzz. But as predicted by us, film scored big in spot bookings and now because of that film had good day one. Film collected 15.25 cr nett on day one which was 2nd best opening for Hindi films, only 2nd to Brahmastra.
Yesterday again film managed to stay strong especially in Gujarat and central region. As per early trends, film collected 11.40 cr nett day two and this was 25% drop which is normal next to festival.
Film dropped further on Thursday and collected 8.75 cr nett which is expected drop post festival.
Film collected 6.05 cr nett on day 4 with further 29% drop. Film grew by 18% on Saturday and collected 7.30 cr nett which was decent trend. Film held to same numbers with 7.25 cr nett on Sunday due to big cricket match. Monday drop was inevitable and film dropped big 49% and collected under 3.25 cr nett. Film kept dripping and collected 2.50 cr, 2 cr and 1.75 cr nett on next three weekdays.
Film managed 80 lacs, 1.60 cr and 1.50 cr over 2nd weekend and now film has total of 69.50 cr nett in 13 days.
Film added 90 lacs nett on Monday and 85 lacs nett on Tuesday. Film has total of 15 days of 71.25 cr nett which means 75 cr nett lifetime will be crossed.
This is still a strictly average total but not bad considering it’s is highest earner of the year for Akshay Kumar despite clash.
