Bell Bottom has surpassed the 20 crore milestone at the box office after only 9 days in theatres. On weekdays, the film grossed in the 1 crore+ level, but on its second Friday, it fell short of that, grossing roughly 80 lakhs.
Naturally, collections would rise again today, tomorrow, and possibly even Monday (owing to the Janamasthami holiday). That would mean that the 25 crore mark would be crossed before the end of the second week, though it will be interesting to see how soon that happens.
These are undoubtedly not the kinds of figures that producers Vashu Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, and Jackky Bhagnani hoped for when they decided to release the film in theaters. Despite the fact that the odds were stacked against them, they took the risk, which they did bravely.
However, it was unfortunate for them that Bell Bottom’s collections were not optimal on opening day, and they did not improve over the weekend. Following that, weekdays saw a drop as well, putting an end to dreams of at least a reasonable lifetime figure.
What counts is that a start has been made, and now all that remains is to see which films will be released next.
