Two back-to-back blockbuster movies Akshay Kumar’s Bell Bottom and Amitabh Bachchan’s Chehre, both well-received by critics may have lifted moviegoers’ moods, but their box-office collections have been disappointing.

Chehre, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi, was expected to make around 80 lakhs at the box office. Although this hasn’t happened yet, since the collections are hovering around the 45 lakhs threshold. This is a low collection for a film that was shot on a large scale and has excellent production qualities. Furthermore, the promotion and marketing were excellent. However, moviegoers have not yet flocked to the movie on a national level, which has had an impact on Rumy Jafry’s film.

The good news is that the film has received positive to excellent reviews, and the tiny few who have seen it have enjoyed it as well, indicating that there is room for the box office to rise from here. Bell Bottom is also playing on low numbers, so there isn’t much of a competition.

From this point on, it’ll be all about how well Chehre can collect in the days ahead before its OTT premium. Whatever comes in after this would be a bonus for this Anand Pandit film, which had the potential to do well in theatres if it had been released before to the pandemic.
