Jigra Box Office: Alia Bhatt-Vedang Raina Starrer Ends Its Theatrical Run With Rs 62 Cr Globally, Earns Better In Overseas Market

Jigra, starring Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina, concludes its theatrical run with global earnings of Rs 62 crore.

Alia Bhatt starrer Jigra has come to the end of its theatrical journey. The film, which also stars Vedang Raina and Manoj Pahwa, has grossed around Rs 62 crore worldwide. Out of this total, Rs 37 crore was earned from the domestic market, indicating that its performance in India fell short of expectations.

Jigra Proves To Be A Flop In Domestic Market

Directed by Vasan Bala, Jigra has been labelled a disaster in India. The film debuted with a disappointing opening of just Rs 4.5 crore. In its first week, it managed to collect Rs 21.95 crore but failed to build momentum thereafter. The numbers dropped significantly after its first Monday, leading to a final net collection of Rs 31 crore in India.

While its domestic performance has been lacklustre, Jigra fared slightly better overseas. It managed to gross approximately USD 3 million, which translates to around Rs 25 crore.

However, even with this boost from international markets, the overall reception has been deemed underwhelming. The film’s total box office earnings stand at Rs 62 crore, marking it as a significant flop.

Collection Source Amount (Rs)
Total Worldwide Gross Rs 62 cr
Domestic Gross Rs 37 cr
Net Collection in India Rs 31 cr
Overseas Gross Rs 25 cr
Opening Day Collection Rs 4.5 cr
First Week Collection Rs 21.95 cr

What Led To The Film’s Lacklustre Performance?

Several factors contributed to Jigra’s disappointing performance. The movie had mixed reviews and lukewarm marketing strategies, which ultimately affected its appeal.

Despite being promoted as a mainstream entertainer, the film emerged as more of a niche project, attracting only a specific audience in metropolitan areas. Although some urban viewers praised it, the overall acclaim was not strong enough to turn the tide.

Critics highlighted the film’s weak second half as a major drawback. Additionally, the marketing campaign failed to create the necessary buzz. While the teaser and trailer garnered some interest, they did not succeed in generating widespread excitement. The limited appeal of the action-drama genre further hampered its box office potential.

Jigra Is Financially Face Despite Its Poor BO Performance

Despite its disappointing run, Jigra remains a financially secure project. The makers had secured favourable non-theatrical deals before its release, ensuring that the film would recover some costs. There is optimism regarding its performance on digital platforms, where it is expected to receive a warm reception upon its release.

In Jigra, Alia Bhatt plays Satya, the protective elder sister of Ankur, portrayed by Vedang Raina. The duo are orphans living with a wealthy relative. Ankur, a programmer, befriends Kabir, the relative’s son. Their lives take a dark turn when they travel to Hanshi Dao, where Ankur is wrongly imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit. Now, it’s up to Satya to rescue him from the brutal prison system.

Will she succeed in saving her innocent brother? Jigra invited viewers to join this emotional journey filled with action and drama.
