Katrina Kaif is back in the spotlight after an old video of her discussing a potential film with director Vasan Bala went viral. This revelation has resurfaced after the release of Jigra, a film directed by Bala that stars Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina.
The movie hit theatres on October 11 and has since generated buzz for its mixed reviews and lacklustre box office performance.
Katrina Kaif Discussed A Project With Jigra Director Vasan Bala
In a now-viral mid-day interview video, originally shared after the release of Kaif’s film Merry Christmas, she talked about her conversations with filmmakers known for their unique styles.
She expressed her disappointment that none of the projects she discussed came to fruition. “For some reason, none of those films worked, and it would not be because of me,” Katrina shared. “I really felt that was not my destiny. But I was always in touch with the filmmakers.”
Katrina elaborated on her interactions with Vasan Bala, recalling multiple meetings they had about a year and a half ago. “I was messaging him, and we had great coffee conversations. He has come over, and we discussed an idea. It’s not like I am sitting in a different land. I love their films,” she added.

Vasan Bala Said THIS About Alia’s Casting In Jigra
Meanwhile, Jigra has faced scrutiny since its release. Vasan Bala previously revealed in an interview that the script was sent to Alia Bhatt without his knowledge.
He revealed that producer Karan Johar shared a rough draft of the script with her, which she loved, despite it being unfinished.
Vasan recalled his surprise at Karan’s decision, saying, “I was really not happy with it. I was like, ‘I would have at least done some spellcheck, grammar check…’ So that email was sent, I was like, ‘Why did you do this?’” Alia reportedly thought the script was incomplete when she first received it.
Vasan’s comments about Alia’s casting sparked discussions about nepotism in Bollywood. Critics insinuated that her connection with Karan Johar played a significant role in her casting. In response to the backlash, Karan took to Instagram to clarify the situation.
He shared a quote that addressed the misunderstandings surrounding Vasan’s comments. He noted, “…the gore misinterpretation of his comment about me sending the script to Alia without his grammar checks made me laugh initially at the ludicrousness of it all but now is truly annoying me.”
Despite the film’s disappointing box office numbers, some fans have praised Alia Bhatt’s performance in Jigra. As for Katrina, it seems her collaboration with Vasan Bala may still be a possibility in the future.
