Kesari Chapter 2: Akshay Kumar Starrer Sells 18,500 Tickets In Top Three National Chains, Eyes Strong Start With Double-Digit Opening Day

Kesari Chapter 2 is set to release on April 18 and is already seeing strong pre-sales with 18,500 tickets sold in top chains so far.

Kesari Chapter 2 will bring the story of Jallianwala Bagh to the big screen, starring Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday, and R Madhavan. The film is a spiritual sequel to the 2019 hit Kesari and will hit theatres tomorrow (April 18) during the Good Friday holiday.

Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, it has received an ‘A’ certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a runtime of 2 hours and 13 minutes.

This is Dharma Productions’ first attempt at film distribution. They’ve opted for a controlled release, focusing mainly on urban markets. Instead of a massive launch, the screenings will vary by location, ensuring the film reaches the right audience.

Given the film’s genre and rating, it’s vital to get the release right to avoid negative reactions on social media. Currently, Kesari Chapter 2 is set to release on about 1,750 screens in India, with the potential to expand to 2,000 screens over the weekend, depending on audience demand.

Kesari Chapter 2 Advance Booking Report

Advance ticket sales for the film began late on Tuesday, and by Thursday afternoon (3:30 pm), it had sold 18,500 tickets in top chains like PVR Inox and Cinepolis. PVR Inox leads the pack with 13,750 tickets sold.

The final pre-sale numbers could range between 30,000 and 33,000 tickets. This is a strong start for an adult-rated film that doesn’t rely on songs or typical commercial elements.

Makers Eye Double-Digit Opening Amid Good Friday Holiday Release

With Good Friday approaching, Kesari 2 is expected to see an increase in walk-in traffic, especially in urban areas. The makers are targeting a double-digit opening, and if the reviews remain positive, the film could gain momentum over the weekend.

Word of mouth is expected to spread quickly, further boosting ticket sales. Early reports are optimistic, but the real test will be how the audience responds after the first few screenings.

Kesari Chapter 2 is hoping to mirror the success of OMG 2, another Akshay Kumar film that grew despite being rated ‘A’. If the morning and afternoon shows do well, the film could cross Rs 10 crore on the opening day.

The teaser and trailer have received a good response, and now it’s all about turning that excitement into packed theatres over the weekend.
