Main Vaapas Aaunga Box Office: Diljit Dosanjh And Imtiaz Ali Film Jumps 125% On Second Saturday With Rs 4.5 Crore Nett

The box office tide has turned sharply for Main Vaapas Aaunga. After spending its opening week building slow but steady momentum, the Imtiaz Ali directorial delivered its biggest single-day collection yet on second Saturday, adding Rs 4.50 crore nett in India and giving its theatrical run a genuine second wind.

That jump is not a minor correction. The film rose 125 per cent from its second Friday and 145 per cent from its first Saturday, underlining how strongly audience traction picked up over the weekend. With over 50 per cent occupancy across the country, the Diljit Dosanjh-led film posted the kind of surge that trade watchers look for when a title begins to find wider acceptance beyond its initial opening.

Main Vaapas Aaunga Sees Strong Second Weekend Revival

The latest box office update puts Main Vaapas Aaunga at an estimated Rs 19 crore nett in India after nine days. What makes the trend especially notable is that the film had faced severe showcasing cuts on Friday, with screen presence dropping to less than half of its first-week levels before improving through the weekend.

As the collections climbed through Saturday, the tone around the film shifted just as quickly. The source report itself summed up the turnaround with the line, “film vaapas aa gyi,” capturing the sudden optimism around a title that looked far less secure only a day earlier.

Delhi-NCR and East Punjab continued to lead the charge and contributed nearly half of the day’s total collections, while Mumbai and Mysore also showed healthy gains. The film’s second weekend is now heading toward roughly Rs 12 crore to Rs 12.50 crore nett, a figure that would put it on par with its entire first week and more than double its opening weekend haul.

Why The Partition Romance Is Finding Its Audience Now

Released on June 12, 2026, Main Vaapas Aaunga is a period romantic drama directed by Imtiaz Ali and headlined by Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina, Sharvari, and Naseeruddin Shah. The film is backed by Applause Entertainment, Birla Studios, and Window Seat Films, with music composed by A. R. Rahman.

The story unfolds across generations against the backdrop of Partition, following an elderly man revisiting a love story that stayed with him for decades. Its blend of nostalgia, romance, and memory appears to be connecting more deeply as word of mouth widens, especially in circuits where Diljit Dosanjh has a strong audience base.

The next real test now lies in the weekdays. If Main Vaapas Aaunga can hold better than expected from Monday onward, its strong second Saturday may prove to be more than a one-day spike and instead the point where audience interest translated into sustained theatrical momentum.
