Michael India Box Office Day 6: Jaafar Jackson Starrer Nears Rs 30 Crore After Strong Wednesday Hold

Jaafar Jackson’s Michael is proving it has more than just opening-weekend curiosity on its side. The musical biopic continued its steady run at the Indian box office on Wednesday, staying firm through the midweek frame and moving close to a solid first-week benchmark in the market.

The film collected Rs 2.95 crore gross on Day 6, a marginal 5 per cent drop from Tuesday. That takes its six-day India total to Rs 28.45 crore gross, including paid previews, underlining a stable theatrical run after its weekend surge.

Michael Maintains Its Weekday Grip

The trend so far has been defined by consistency. Michael opened with paid previews of Rs 1.70 crore, followed by Rs 4.50 crore on Friday, Rs 6.50 crore on Saturday, and Rs 7 crore on Sunday. It then remained steady on the weekdays, collecting Rs 2.70 crore on Monday, Rs 3.10 crore on Tuesday, and Rs 2.95 crore on Wednesday.

Its strongest support has come from South India and Mumbai, where Michael Jackson’s popularity has long remained robust. That cultural recall, combined with the film’s music-driven storytelling and stage performance energy, appears to be helping the title sustain footfalls beyond the weekend rush. The firm hold also suggests that the film’s appeal is extending beyond nostalgia and into audience engagement with its larger-than-life retelling.

Why The Biopic Is Striking A Chord

That sustained response is closely tied to the film’s scale and familiarity. Directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by John Logan, Michael is a biographical musical drama built around the life of Michael Jackson. Jaafar Jackson leads the cast, alongside Nia Long, Colman Domingo, Miles Teller, Laura Harrier, Jessica Sula, Mike Myers and Juliano Valdi. The film was backed by GK Films, with Lionsgate handling its domestic release and Universal Pictures releasing it internationally.

The story follows Michael Jackson’s journey from his early years with the Jackson 5 to his rise as one of pop culture’s defining global figures. In India, that blend of music, performance spectacle and legacy value has helped the film establish a strong theatrical footing through its first six days.
