Mufasa: The Lion King Expected To Become 7th Highest-Grossing Hollywood Film In India By End Of Run, Set To Cross Rs 165 Cr Gross

Mufasa: The Lion King is on track to become the 7th highest-grossing Hollywood film in India with a total expected to surpass Rs 165 crore by the end of its run.

Mufasa: The Lion King continues to perform well at the Indian box office. As it nears the end of its run, the film has earned Rs. 156 crore, with another Rs. 2 crore expected this week.

It currently sits in 10th place among the highest-grossing Hollywood films in India but could move up to 7th by the end of its run.

Mufasa: The Lion King Is Currently On10th Spot In Top Hollywood Grossers In India

The film is currently behind Oppenheimer by Rs. 1.5 crore. However, since Mufasa includes earnings from 3D screenings (which Oppenheimer didn’t have), the gap in actual earnings is smaller, with Mufasa ahead. If 3D charges were included, Mufasa would be performing even better.

As the film continues its run, Mufasa is expected to move up the rankings. The 7th spot is currently held by Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, with Rs. 160 crore. If Mufasa keeps its momentum, it could surpass that and claim the 7th spot.

India has been a major success for Mufasa. It is the sixth biggest market for the film internationally, outperforming countries like China, Spain, Brazil, and Australia. What’s especially notable is that while Mufasa saw a global drop of around 60% compared to its predecessor, The Lion King, its performance in India is much stronger. The film has only dropped by 15% here, a great result by international standards.

This strong performance reflects both the film’s appeal to Indian audiences and the lasting popularity of the Lion King franchise in the country. Unlike most sequels, which often see sharp drops in revenue, Mufasa is holding strong in India, making it an outlier in the global market.
