Pati Patni Aur Woh Do Box Office Day 1: Ayushmann Khurrana Film Takes Poor Start, Stays Under Rs 4.40 Crore And Opens 55 Percent Lower Than First Part

Ayushmann Khurrana’s Pati Patni Aur Woh Do has walked into theatres with a clear opening-day challenge. The romantic comedy stayed under the Rs 4 crore mark on day one, a soft start for a franchise title that arrived with familiarity, a multi-star cast and expectations of a brisk commercial launch.

Day 1 Box Office Update

Pati Patni Aur Woh Do collected Rs 4.38 crore nett in India on its opening day. The film also grossed Rs 1 crore overseas, taking its day-one worldwide gross to Rs 6.25 crore. For a mainstream Hindi comedy led by Ayushmann Khurrana, the first-day number is a poor start, especially when placed next to the first film in the franchise line.

The comparison is unavoidable. Pati Patni Aur Woh, which released in 2019 with Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday in the lead, had opened at Rs 9.10 crore nett in India. That puts Pati Patni Aur Woh Do roughly 55 percent lower than the first part on day one. The gap is significant and leaves the new film needing strong weekend traction to change its early box office narrative.

The latest release opened to mixed reactions from critics and audiences, which makes the next two days crucial. A comedy can still steady itself through word of mouth, but the opening number has ensured that the spotlight is firmly on occupancy growth from here.

The Film, Cast And Premise

Directed by Mudassar Aziz, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do was released in theatres on May 15, 2026. The film stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Wamiqa Gabbi, Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet Singh, with Vijay Raaz, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Vishal Vashishtha, Guneet Singh Sodhi, Durgesh Kumar, Ayesha Raza Mishra, Shireesh Kumar Sharma and Deepika Amin in the supporting cast. It is backed by T-Series Films and B. R. Studios, and distributed by Zee Studios.

Set in Prayagraj, the romantic comedy follows a seemingly perfect marriage that takes an unexpected turn after one decision triggers misunderstandings, suspicion and chaos. The film leans into situational humour and marital confusion, staying in the broad comic space associated with the franchise brand.

Ayushmann Khurrana’s Recent And Upcoming Work

Ayushmann Khurrana’s recent theatrical releases include Dream Girl 2 in 2023 and Thamma in 2025. Dream Girl 2 marked a commercial rebound for the actor, while Thamma, co-starring Rashmika Mandanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, released in October 2025 and had a moderate box office run. With Pati Patni Aur Woh Do now in cinemas, Khurrana has returned to the comedy space once again.

Looking ahead, his confirmed upcoming films include Udta Teer, which is listed in post-production, and Yeh Prem Mol Liya, which is in filming. That makes the box office journey of Pati Patni Aur Woh Do an important marker in his current theatrical phase.
