Ranveer Singh has stormed back into the box office conversation in commanding fashion. Dhurandhar The Revenge, the Aditya Dhar-directed action sequel co-starring Arjun Rampal, opened to $81 million globally over its first four days, including paid previews, and finished the weekend as the No. 2 title at the worldwide box office. BIGGEST Global Opening of all time for Indian films, beating Baahubali 2’s $76.5M, Kalki 2898 AD’s 66.5M & Jawan’s 63M global debuts, only below Pushpa 2 The Rule’s $97.8M!
For a Hindi-language release, that is a rare feat, and it instantly places the film among the biggest worldwide launches ever delivered by Indian cinema.
The force of that opening came from both home turf and key international markets. Dhurandhar The Revenge collected $59.5 million from India in four days and another $21.5 million overseas, showing that the sequel connected far beyond its core domestic base. In the U.S., the film pulled in $13.5 million across four days from 987 theatres, while its $9.6 million three-day weekend placed it among the strongest North American starts ever for an Indian title.
A Record Run In The U.S. And Overseas
The overseas story is where the weekend became historic. With a per-theatre average of about $14,000 in the U.S., Dhurandhar The Revenge converted demand into one of the biggest American openings ever for an Indian film. Its four-day North America debut moved past Kalki 2898 AD, while the three-day weekend stood behind only Baahubali 2 among Indian releases.
On the global all-time opening chart for Indian films, Dhurandhar The Revenge surged past Baahubali 2, Kalki 2898 AD and Jawan, with only Pushpa 2 The Rule ahead of it. That performance has given the film immediate event-cinema stature and turned its opening weekend into one of the most significant box office moments for a Hindi release in recent years.
That momentum is also drawing attention back to the film itself, and to the franchise engine powering this breakout run.
Inside The Spy Sequel Fueling The Surge
Written and directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar The Revenge is a Hindi spy action thriller produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios. The cast includes Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan and Sara Arjun. Released on March 19, 2026, the film is the second chapter in the Dhurandhar saga and follows an undercover Indian operative navigating Karachi’s criminal and political underworld as a revenge mission collides with a wider national operation.
The sequel’s sharply mounted espionage setup and star-heavy ensemble have clearly struck a chord with audiences, giving the film a powerful launchpad right out of the gate.
Ranveer Singh’s Recent And Upcoming Work
This opening weekend also sharpens the focus on Ranveer Singh’s current career momentum. He drew strong praise for Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani in 2023 alongside Alia Bhatt, one of that year’s notable Hindi box office successes. In 2024, he returned as Simmba in Singham Again, extending Rohit Shetty’s cop universe. In 2025, he led Dhurandhar, the first film in Aditya Dhar’s espionage franchise, which laid the foundation for this sequel’s explosive reception. With Dhurandhar The Revenge now delivering one of the biggest global starts ever for an Indian film, Singh’s big-screen phase looks firmly locked into large-scale theatrical spectacles.
