Sikandar Falters At Box Office
Salman Khan’s latest release Sikandar suffered due to poor reviews and very mixed word of mouth. Film suffered in traditionally strong markets of Salman Khan and even western and central India failed to score. Film failed to grow throughout the day and managed below par 30.06 crore net day one. It’s lesser than expectations and it fails to beat films like Chhaava and Tiger 3. Film collected 17.90 crore in overseas on day one taking first day worldwide gross 54 crore.
Box office has changed in last few years and now big films are expected to open around 50 or 60 crore on day one.
Film needed big jump in next two days but film faltered in big way. Film collected 33.36 crore net on day two with hardly 10% growth despite big Eid holiday. Things got worse as film dropped big on day three with 23.01 crore net followed by massive drop with 11.73 crore net on day four followed by further drop with 7.01 crore net on day 5. Film continued to fall with 4.56 crore net on day 6 and 3.20 crore net on day 7. Film has 7 – day total of 112.93 crore net India which is poor to say the least for a big ticket big budget holiday release.
Film added 4.75 crore net on day 8 and continued to struggle. Film added 1.75 crore on day 9, 1.50 crore on day 10, 1.35 crore on day 11 and 0.75 crore on day 12.
Film has 12 day total of 125 crore net which is a shame. It will finish with 130 crore net lifetime. Film is also a disappointment in overseas with poor $6.4 million number in 8 days including previews. This is less than day number of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan in overseas.
