IMPPA Condemns Massive Piracy Of Salman Khan’s Sikandar, Demands Stricter Laws As 10,000+ Illegal Links Leak Before Release

MPPA slams massive piracy of Salman Khan’s Sikandar, warns of severe losses for the film industry and urges stricter action.

Salman Khan starrer Sikandar hit theatres on Eid, pulling in a massive but insufficient crowd for a record-breaking opening. Even before its official release on March 30, the film became a victim of piracy. Over 10,000 illegal links surfaced on Telegram, WhatsApp, and the Dark Web, making high-quality copies available for free.

IMPPA Slams Sikandar Piracy And Calls For Stricter Laws

The Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) has condemned the piracy, calling it a major financial hit to the film industry.

In a statement, the association said, “This continuing illegal act has caused significant financial harm to the film’s producer and the film industry, particularly at a time when the entire film fraternity—including producers, distributors, and theatre owners—is grappling with multiple challenges.”

This isn’t the first time piracy has targeted a Salman Khan film. His previous release Radhe also leaked online before hitting theatres. Now, this happened again and has, raised fresh concerns over the growing threat of digital piracy. While industry leaders push for stricter anti-piracy laws, the damage has already been done.

Piracy doesn’t just impact Salman or the producers. Hundreds of crew members, technicians, and artists rely on a film’s success. When a movie leaks illegally, their hard work and earnings take a direct hit. IMPPA urged audiences to support films through legal channels, stressing that piracy threatens the livelihoods of countless behind-the-scenes workers.

Despite this, Sikandar is doing well in theatres. In just three days, the film has collected an impressive Rs 141.5 crore.

About The Film

The film follows Sanjay Rajkot, a powerful Gujarat-based leader who embarks on a mission to protect three strangers in Mumbai. His late wife’s donated organs saved their lives, but a corrupt politician now seeks revenge. Sanjay steps in, ready to fight for their safety.

Directed by AR Murugadoss, Sikandar was expected to be a blockbuster with its action-packed sequences and emotional depth. However, some viewers have criticised its outdated plot and execution. Still, Salman’s massive star power and screen presence continue to drive audiences to theatres.

Currently, Sky Force holds the second spot in the list of highest-grossing films of 2025 with Rs 174.21 crore worldwide. Sikandar needs just Rs 32.71 crore more to claim that position.
