Ajay Devgn’s much-awaited action-comedy Son Of Sardaar 2 has taken a poor start at the box office. The film released on August 1 and during opening weekend, Ajay’s film failed to score big considering it was sequel of a hit film.
A sequel to the 2012 hit, Son Of Sardaar 2 continues the story with Ajay Devgn reprising his high-energy, larger-than-life avatar, Jassi, that received mixed reviews. The film’s mass appeal, humour, and action-packed narrative have clearly failed to struck a chord with audiences.
On Day 1, Son of Sardaar 2 raked in an average Rs 7.50 crore net which is 55% less than Ajay’s another sequel Raid 2 which opened to 16.71 crore net on day one couple of months back. Film collected 8 crore net on day two without any significant growth. Film remained flat and collected 9.50 crore net on day 3 Sunday.
After 25 crore net weekend, writing was on the wall and film tanked on Monday with 2.25 crore net number. Due to discounted rates on Tuesday, film collected 2.50 crore net. Film added 1.75 crore net on Wednesday and 1.50 crore net on Thursday.
Film has 7 – day total of 33 crore net and its heading under 40 crore net lifetime. Film garnered extremely mixed word of mouth and terrible reviews so solid hold on weekdays were impossible. These numbers look more terrible considering film ran with 50% off over the weekend.

Son of Sardaar 2 Is 3rd Disaster For Ajay Devgn In Last 18 Months
Ajay Devgn’s latest release, Son of Sardaar 2, has unfortunately joined the growing list of box office misfires for the superstar. Despite the nostalgia factor and returning to a character he once made iconic, the sequel has failed to make a dent commercially. With lacklustre collections and poor word of mouth, the film is already being termed a disaster just 4 days after release.
This marks Devgn’s third major setback in a span of just 18 months, following the washout collections of Maidaan (52.29 crore net) and the recently released Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha (8.59 crore net).

Produced by N R Pachisia and Pravin Talreja, and co-produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak, Son of Sardaar 2 was previously slated for release on July 25, 2025. It’s release date was later pushed to August 1.
