The James Gunn-directed Superman led by David Corenswet has taken a decent start at the box office in India. The DC-produced superhero saga is collected Rs 7.23 crore on Friday. With this, Superman has secured the third-best start for a Hollywood film in India after the Tom Cruise-led Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning and the Scarlett Johansson starrer Jurassic World: Rebirth.
Film grew by 40 – 45 % on day two and collected 9.99 crore on day two. Film dropped a bit on Sunday and collected 9.39 crore net.
Film has 3 day total of 26.61 crore net weekend and 32 crore gross. Film remained steady on weekdays and collected 8.97 crore net. Film has 1st week total of 35.58 crore net and it’s a good platform for the film.
The film expected to show a good spike in business over the 2nd weekend, as the reports are positive and the dormant Superman fans are expected to step out over the weekend to consume the superhero saga on the big screen. Expectedly so, the film is doing well in the premium formats like IMAX and 4DX, and the best business is coming in from the urban markets.
From here, Superman will be looking to hit minimum Rs 50 crore lifetime total. The film has however opened better than F1, Final Destination: Bloodlines and Captain America in India.
