Superstardom Of King: Allu Arjun Starrer Pushpa 2 Nears $30 Million At Overseas Box Office But Lags Far Behind Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan & Jawan’s Lifetime Collections

Pushpa 2 may have crossed Rs 1500 crore globally, but despite its sequel advantage, it still lags far behind Pathaan and Jawan in overseas earnings

Despite being hailed as a massive success, Pushpa 2 has far more to prove than its numbers suggest. Directed by Sukumar and starring Allu Arjun, the film crossed Rs 1500 crore globally, but the overseas numbers tell a different story.

While it’s approaching $30 million in earnings, the gap between Pushpa 2 and Bollywood’s heavyweights like Pathaan and Jawan remains glaringly wide.

Pushpa 2 Nears $30 Million Overseas But Falls Short Of Pathaan & Jawan’s Massive Collections

In the US, the film has grossed $14.2 million, but it still needs to cross $16 million to be considered truly successful. Pushpa 2 is touted as the highest-grossing Telugu film not directed by Rajamouli, but that’s hardly an impressive feat when you compare it to the massive earnings of Pathaan ($47.88 million) and Jawan ($48 million). Despite all the fanfare, Pushpa 2 is still a far cry from these Bollywood blockbusters.

What makes it worse is that Pushpa 2 is cashing in on the sequel advantage. The film is riding high on the back of the first film’s success, yet it struggles to keep up with the raw, organic hype that Pathaan and Jawan generated.

Both of those films built momentum with their own appeal, while Pushpa 2 is dependent on the anticipation of a sequel. (something that usually guarantees a higher turnout) Yet, it still lags in key international markets.

Film Has Performed Better In India

In India, the film has done decently in the northern belt, grossing over Rs 640 crore, but in the Telugu states, it has barely crossed Rs 200 crore. The film’s performance could have been better, but steep ticket prices have taken a toll, both domestically and overseas.

Even though it’s profitable in places like Telangana, the film’s overall earnings have been impacted by inflated ticket costs, raising questions about how much more could have been made under different circumstances.

Additionally, Allu Arjun’s connection to the Sandhya Theatre stampede case has brought unexpected attention to Pushpa 2. The controversy has caused personal disappointment for him. Today, he is meeting with the Hyderabad police about his bail application. The outcome of the situation is still uncertain. Many claim that this controversy only helped to boost the film’s collections further.
