The Kerala Story 2 Goes Beyond Weekend Total Rs 10 Crore In India, Sequel Finds Footing Despite Late Start

After a bumpy start that pushed its first shows to Friday evening, The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond has managed to steady itself at the Indian box office, closing its opening weekend with an approximate nett total of Rs 10 crore.

The sequel entered theatres under the shadow of legal hurdles, which directly impacted its first-day footprint. That delay meant the film’s “Friday” run effectively played like previews, with Saturday functioning as the first full day of business. Despite that disruption, the film held its ground across the weekend and delivered a start that keeps it in the conversation for the weeks ahead.

Opening Weekend Numbers And The Late-Start Factor

As per the trade update, The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond collected around Rs 0.75 crore nett on Friday, followed by about Rs 4.50 crore nett on Saturday. Sunday brought in an estimated Rs 4.75 crore nett, taking the opening weekend total to approximately Rs 10.00 crore nett in India.

The Sunday figure came on a day dominated by a high-profile cricket match, which the trade note flagged as a factor that limited growth for several titles in theatres. Still, the film avoided a flatline and added meaningful collections to its weekend tally.

The narrative around the sequel is also shaped by the performance of the first film. The Kerala Story (2023) finished its run at around Rs 220 crore nett in India after opening at Rs 6.75 crore nett, and its polarising reception did not prevent it from becoming a major commercial success in the Hindi belt. That familiarity has helped the second instalment generate initial traction, even as films in a similar “issue driven” zone have seen more muted outcomes in recent seasons.

Cast, Crew And What The Film Is About

The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond is directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah under Sunshine Pictures. The film stars Ulka Gupta, Aditi Bhatia and Aishwarya Ojha.

The sequel expands the thematic canvas of the 2023 film and follows young women whose personal choices and relationships spiral into far more controlling realities. The film stays rooted in social drama, with a narrative built to provoke debate as much as it seeks footfalls.

With its opening weekend now in the books, the key for The Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond will be how well it holds on weekdays and whether it can build momentum through its core target audience.
