After an anxious pause that left the unit in limbo, Awarapan 2 is moving into what is expected to be its final sprint. The Emraan Hashmi led sequel has been dealing with a production interruption over the last few weeks, with filming held back as the team waited for Hashmi to recover from an injury. Now, as of March 2, 2026, the makers have locked the next major step, and it involves taking the film overseas for the closing stretch.
Latest Update: Malaysia Schedule Begins This Week
Box Office Worldwide has exclusively learned that the last schedule of Awarapan 2 will be shot in Malaysia for three weeks starting this week. Disha Patani is also set to join the unit for this leg, as the production pushes to finish remaining portions that require the overseas backdrop.
The development comes after the shoot had been pending for nearly 20 days due to Hashmi’s injury, which led to a postponement of the film’s immediate plans. With the actor back on his feet and the team ready to roll again, Malaysia now becomes a key location to bring the sequel to a wrap.
While the makers are keeping plot details under tight wraps, Awarapan 2 has already been positioned as a high emotion romantic saga set against a darker world, staying in sync with the mood that made Awarapan a cult title over the years. The sequel is directed by Nitin Kakkar and is mounted under the Vishesh Films banner.
A teaser announced that Awarapan 2 is scheduled to release in cinemas on April 3, 2026. With the final schedule now locked, the next few weeks are expected to be crucial for the film’s post production timeline.
