Sunny Deol is having the kind of year actors dream of, and it is only March 2026. Fresh off the strong theatrical run of Border 2, the star’s calendar for the rest of 2026 is jam packed with five releases that jump genres, formats and even scale. From a grounded emotional drama to a high stakes courtroom thriller, then straight into a period epic and a mythological tentpole, Deol is positioning himself as a one man event slate.
What makes this run genuinely striking is the speed at which these projects are expected to arrive. Four titles are being lined up almost back to back after May, leaving little breathing room between one release and the next, and making 2026 a make or break year for the Deol brand at the box office and on streaming.
Latest Update: Five Releases Lined Up Post May, With Release Windows Taking Shape
The first film out of the gate is Gabru, now locked for a theatrical release on May 8, 2026. The film is directed by Shashank Udapurkar and stars Deol alongside Simran and Prit Kamani. The biggest crowd puller is the confirmed cameo by Salman Khan, adding extra heat to what is being positioned as an emotional, rooted story rather than a standard action vehicle.
Next is Ikka, a Netflix film expected to stream in 2026. Headlined by Sunny Deol and Akshaye Khanna, the courtroom thriller is directed by Siddharth P. Malhotra and produced by Alchemy Films. The premise sets up a combustible moral dilemma, with Deol playing an incorruptible lawyer forced to defend a man whose career he once destroyed.
Deol’s Soorya has also been completed, with producer Deepak Mukut confirming, “The film is complete. Now it’s in the post-production phase. Once that gets done, we will finalise the release date. We are looking for a good date in the month of June or July, as we want to showcase it well.”
The year then shifts into prestige territory with Lahore 1947, produced by Aamir Khan Productions and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, releasing on August 13, 2026. And finally, Deol goes full scale spectacle with Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, where he plays Lord Hanuman, expected to arrive in November 2026.

Deol began 2026 with Border 2, the Anurag Singh directed war drama featuring Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty, backed by T Series Films and J. P. Films. Before that, his big comeback moment was Gadar 2 (2023), which reset his box office standing and reopened the door for large scale theatrical vehicles.
Looking ahead, 2026 is now set to define his momentum with Gabru (May 8), Netflix’s Ikka (2026), Soorya (June or July window), Lahore 1947 (August 13) and Ramayana (November), making it one of the busiest single year slates for a top Hindi film star in recent memory.
